A small lamp that throws a field of stars across a dark ceiling. It runs off a USB port, so it works from a phone charger, a laptop, a power bank or the socket in a car.

How it works
A slide clips into the front of the lamp and the light projects whatever is printed on it. Twelve slides come in the box — night skies, planets, galaxies — and you swap them by hand in a couple of seconds. The neck bends and holds its shape, so you point it where you want and it stays there.
The controls
One touch pad on the side. Tap once for the warm night light, again for the star projection, again for off. Hold it to dim or brighten.

What it will not do
There is no motor, so the stars do not rotate and there is no moving aurora — if that is what you are picturing, this is the wrong lamp and we would rather say so here. It needs a dark room to show up properly, and it lights a ceiling, not a whole room. It has no plug of its own: something with a USB port has to power it.
