The cartridge inside a filtering shower head is the part that does the work, and it is the part that wears out. These are the replacements for the shower head we sell, three in a pack.
When to change it
Every two to three months, or sooner if your water is hard. You do not need a calendar: the cartridge goes from white to a grey or rust colour, and that is the whole indicator. When the flow starts to drop, it is overdue.
How to change it
Unscrew the front of the shower head, lift the old cartridge out, drop the new one in, screw it back. It takes about twenty seconds and no tools.
What it does
It traps sediment, rust particles and chlorine, which is what you notice on hair and skin. It is a shower filter, not a water softener: it will not permanently change the hardness of your water, and it does nothing for the rest of the house.
What it fits
Our Filtering Shower Head, and other heads that take the same 2 x 8 cm cylindrical cartridge. If you have a shower head from another brand, measure the old cartridge before ordering — the fittings are not standardised, and we would rather you check than send it back.
